Template:Inline tag/doc
Description
This meta-template is used to create "inline tag" templates. These tags are usually affixed to particular statements within the text directly (e.g. {{vague}}
and {{fact}}
), as opposed to creating a box tag at the top of the page (e.g. {{cleanup}}
).
For example, for the {{fact}}
tag, you can affix it to the end of a dubious or controversial statement, or one needing citation. (Note: This example is a pretty blatant one - in this particular case, it would be preferable to look it up, see that it's obviously false and fix it rather than tag it).
- The cello's primary role in the orchestra has historically been as a bass voice. However, beginning in the 1850s,[citation needed] concerti and unaccompanied cello works began appearing.
Syntax
{{inline tag|tag text|tag category|link=tag link}}
- tag text
- The text that appears in the tag - for example, in
{{fact}}
, it's "citation needed". - tag category
- Optional. The category into which the page should be placed when a statement is affixed with the tag.
- link (named)
- Optional. The article that the tag should link to. If none is given, the category is linked to. If no category is given, the tag is not linked.
Examples
To create a tag with the text "foo" that does not link to a page and does not categorise the article:
