Evan Courtin, a 19 year old composer residing in New York City, has been composing since 2003. He is originally from Buffalo, New York, where he studied violin for 13 years. He is a recipient of the Patricia K. Terranova Scholarship, given to one graduating senior from Buffalo Suzuki Strings, for dedication to the program. He is also a recipient of the Williamsville Music Boosters Scholarship, which is awarded to three graduating seniors from the Williamsville Central School District who intend to study music in college.

Although he has been composing since 2003, only two of his compositions have been premiered. His first performed work, 'To an Athlete Dying Young' (S.A.T.B.), came in April 2005 at the Buffalo Poetry Arts Festival. The second came in the form of a string quartet movement, titled 'Rememberance', which was performed at the Mannes College of Music in May, 2006. The quartet as a whole is a work in progress.

Evan currently studies composition in the Extension Division at the Mannes College of Music. His teacher is Peter Bellino.
