Edgard Victor Achille Charles Varèse, most commonly known as Edgar Varèse, was an Avant-garde composer whose music places emphasis mainly on timbre and rhythm. Although his complete works only last in duration to about three hours, he has been hailed as an influence by several major composers of the late 20th century.Henry Miller described him as "The stratospheric Colossus of Sound".
